Wests are changing the skyline of Mayfield!
The Wests Group Australia is pleased to announce construction of a hotel and restaurant at the Mayfield site. This will be the tallest hotel in Newcastle with eight storeys plus skylight, giving the restaurant a stunning view over the surrounding district.
Scheduled to open in February 2009 the hotel will provide Newcastle with 74 much needed accommodation rooms and suites of a 4 ½ star standard, private function spaces, a fantastic skyline restaurant and bar seating approximately 140 people plus abundant free guest parking.
The hotel is the perfect complement to entertainment options at Wests Mayfield and the world class facilities of Balance Health Club, which currently share the site.
"The demand for accommodation in Newcastle is high all year round and given the property is on Industrial Drive, the main gateway to Newcastle and it is in close proximity to the airport and industrial sites, we expect occupancy to be as good if not better than our existing hotel in New Lambton, The Executive Inn." said Wests Group CEO, Philip Gardner.
"As with the construction of Balance Health Club, we feel that this new project will lift the profile of Mayfield as a thriving township" said Gardner. "More importantly the project brings with it 150 local jobs during construction and up to 70 ongoing sustainable positions once the hotel and restaurant are in operation"
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year ready for luxury fit out and has caused minimal disruption to operations at either Wests Mayfield or Balance Health Club due to the multistorey car park already on the site.
