West Rosellas begin their 103rd year in 2012. Although successes were few until the 1960’s West have been the dominant club in Newcastle Rugby League over the last 50 years. During this period West have won the Club Championship on 34 occasions, have been Major Premiers in First Grade on 15 occasions and have won numerous lower grade premierships. On only 4 occasions in the past 50 years have West failed to win at least one Major Premiership on Grand Final day – a great record.

In 2011 West were Club Champions and Minor and Major Premiers in both Reserve Grade and Presidents Cup. The First Grade side came 2^ndin the competition and were beaten 19 – 18 by Maitland in the Grand Final in extra time. All in all 2011 was a great season for West.

The coaching staff for 2012 is Craig Miller (First Grade), Wayne March (Reserve Grade) and Mark Morrissey (Presidents Cup) – the same successful staff as in 2011.

The Annual General Meeting of the Football Club was held at Harker Oval on Thursday 10 November 2011. Congratulations to Wayne Hore (President), Don McDougall (Vice President), Neil Scarr (Secretary) and Merv Hunter (Treasurer) on their re election as major Office Bearers of the club.

In Round 5, West played Cessnock at Cessnock on Friday night 11 May. After leading 8 – 6 at half time, West lost First Grade 22 – 8. West were successful in both lower grade games. In round 5 West play Kurri at Kurri on Saturday 19 May. If you can’t get to the game, “Live Scores” are available on the website for each game.
